David Persky (Executive Director) joined Shen Wei Dance Arts after serving as Executive Director of ZviDance, a contemporary dance ensemble with an extensive touring history. Originally from Chicago, David studied at Oberlin College and the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. Following graduation, he began his career in artist representation with Elsie Management, which gave him unparalleled exposure to the dance touring marketplace. David next took a leading roll at the independent film distributor Indiepix, experimenting with and employing new forms of film distribution to consumers, while simultaneously heading the company's theatrical releases nationwide. Today, while not reading blogs on CNET, David provides consultancy to arts administrators. One of David's hopes for the years ahead is to support Shen Wei's interest in the possibilities that film offers for the enhancement of live performance, exploring the unlimited avenues for artistic exploration afforded by the last decade's explosion of technological breakthroughs and the subsequent democratization of filmmaking.
